“We don’t stop until we get you off the streets,” Burch said. “Every time you look in the rear view mirror, you’re going to see us.”

On Aug. 15, deputies executed a countywide roundup, making 14 arrests in 13 cases. Eight of the arrests are felonies.

Thanks to law enforcement intelligence and crime tips from the public, cases were built in many places including in Prichard and along the Dauphin Island Parkway corridor.

Deputies confiscated over 2 pounds of marijuana, oxycontin, methamphetamine and $2,000 in cash. Burch said the highlight of the operation was the guns successfully removing guns from the streets.

“Several of the guns we got were from juveniles,” Burch explained. “Over the last couple of years, it’s young people that are involved in the shootings so if we can get guns out of their hands, that’s one less gun they’re going to be able to take someone’s life with or shoot into a home with.”

Burch said operations like these are leading to less gun violence. He encouraged the public to speak up if they see crime in their community.
