UPDATE (Aug. 23, 5:11 p.m.): News 5 has learned more about the Charleston Apartment Homes homicide that police say is domestic-related.

“It’s tragic for both sides, for the victim and the subject’s family,” Public Information Officer of MPD, Blake Brown said. “So unfortunately, this is another one of those cases where I’m sure both sides’ families knew each other at some point and may know of each other.”

MPD has said that the deadly stabbing in West Mobile was domestic-related.

“In most domestic cases, it involves a female victim. In this case, it involved a male victim,” said Brown. “So, it’s not just females who may be seeking help.”

“Men also can reach out to the police department to support groups for help if they feel like they’re in a situation they can’t get out of,” Brown continued.

News 5 spoke with several friends of the victim, and they shared that Rawlins was a great friend and loved his children.

“If family and friends have been speaking with either of them over the last couple of weeks, last several days. And maybe they’ve mentioned something to you that’s out of the ordinary. Please give us a call. Let our investigators know,” Brown said.
