NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man who was injured in a Wednesday night shooting was arrested after police said they learned that he was wanted for his connection to an Antioch robbery.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), the shooting happened at an apartment complex in 600 block of Whispering Hills Drive around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14.

Detectives said a preliminary investigation indicates that two armed suspects fired several shots, which struck 26-year-old Samuel Giddens, an apartment window and a vehicle in the parking lot of the complex.

Giddens was reportedly taken to Southern Hills Hospital in a Hyundai Elantra after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg. However, officers said the 26-year-old gave them a fake name and date of birth at the hospital but told them that he was shot by two men.

Police said further investigation revealed that Giddens was identified as one of three suspects that pistol whipped a man in an Antioch home before stealing his Infiniti Q60 in July. The victim, who allegedly recognized Giddens, is now unable to speak properly or open his mouth due to his injuries, according to MNPD.

In addition to his outstanding warrants, Giddens was also booked on criminal impersonation charges after he was released from the hospital. Court records show that he remains jailed on a $155,000 bond.

During the investigation, officers said they learned that a passenger in the Elanta –identified as 28-year-old Kendric Williams — was a convicted felon who allegedly hid two firearms underneath the front tire of the vehicle.
