    Suspect charged after beating, robbery at South Nashville gas station

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a violent robbery attempt at a South Nashville car wash last week.

    The robbery happened around 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at a car wash on Murfreesboro Pike near the Bell Road intersection.

    Metro police reported the victim was at the car wash when two men robbed him of his wallet but the victim refused to hand over his phone. One of the suspects beat the victim with a pistol in his mouth and demanded the phone, according to Metro police.

    The victim then gave the suspects his phone.

    According to court documents, Malik Mingo intentionally shot the victim in the chest.

    Mingo was charged with felon in possession of a weapon, attempted criminal homicide, aggravated robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, drug possession, evading arrest and theft. His bond was set at $152,500.
