K9 officer alert leads deputies to 1,000 pills, guns during Bedford County traffic stop

BEDFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A traffic stop in Shelbyville led to the discovery of pills believed to contain fentanyl, methamphetamine and two firearms, according to deputies.

In a Facebook post , the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office said during a traffic stop on Tuesday, Aug. 13, a deputy’s suspicions were raised while questioning the vehicle’s occupants.

Officials said K9 Officer Ranger alerted the deputy to the vehicle after performing an “open air sniff” around it.

A search was then performed, leading to the discovery of approximately 200 pills believed to contain fentanyl, a stolen firearm and a small amount of methamphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office.

After this incident, the 17th Judicial Drug Task Force said they obtained and executed a search warrant for an unspecified location, which led to 800 blue pills believed to contain fentanyl and an AK-47 style carbine.

No additional information about the incident was immediately released.
