GRUNDY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A DeKalb County teenager was found dead Sunday after reportedly drowning in a Grundy County lake.

The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office said it was called to a possible drowning at Big Creek Lake in Coalmont on Sunday, Aug. 18.

Since there was no visible body when personnel arrived, rescue squads were deployed in the lake. Officials said they discovered a body in 12 to 15 feet of water using sonar.

Divers retrieved the body, which authorities identified as 18-year-old Kolby Jacobs of Smithville. Investigators said they determined no foul play was involved in Jacobs’ drowning.

The sheriff’s office extended its condolences to Jacobs’ family.
