MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Mt. Juliet woman was flown to a hospital after she was involved in a bad car accident on a road neighbors said is known to be dangerous.
The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office said, in the past year, they have responded to 11 wrecks along Saundersville Road and 13 incidents of speeding and reckless driving.
The accident happened on Saundersville Road at Bay Drive in Wilson County.
“The second phone call I got was from a first responder and I could just hear her say ‘Help me, help me I don’t know what happened,’” Tony Sleigh said.

Sleigh said that’s the last time he heard his wife, Stephanie’s, voice. “And there was anywhere from 10 to 15 people working on that car, they had big heavy machinery trying to cut it, trying to get her out.”
He said it took around an hour and a half until first responders could get her out of the car.
“I’ve never had a more helpless feeling in my life. Sitting in the back of the car watching them trying to get her out,” Sleigh said.
Sleigh said once his wife was out, she was life-flighted to Vanderbilt where she is now recovering with a long list of injuries including a broken pelvis, femur, and broken arms.
“Those roads are dangerous,” Sleigh said.
He has lived in this area for over 20 years and this road has always been a concern.
Sleigh said recently he has seen a more active police presence on the road. “It’s a dangerous place. After a while it gets complacent. We had a guy about a year ago and he didn’t make it right at the end of my street.”

On Thursday, Sleigh spoke to News 2 on the way to the hospital in the back seat of the car. He said hoped he could hear his wife’s voice. “I’m hoping to hear some good news today. I’ve heard enough bad between yesterday and today so I’m hoping to hear something positive, and I can talk to her.”
