LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The StormTracker 6 Weather Team has issued a Weather Aware Day for Tuesday, with heat and humidity expected to peak across Mid-Michigan. In addition, we have the potential for strong to severe storms across the area.

    Heat and Humidity Continue

For the first time in 70 days, temperatures will reach into the 90s across Mid-Michigan.

For the rest of our Monday, we will have partly cloudy skies and a slight chance for an isolated pop-up shower or thunderstorm. Temperatures will top out near 90 degrees. But, because of the humidity, it will feel like temperatures are in the upper 90s this evening. There will be very little relief across the area overnight, with temperatures only cooling down into the low 70s.

These hot and humid conditions will peak across Mid-Michigan tomorrow, with high temperatures near 92 degrees. The National Weather Service will issue Heat Advisories across Mid-Michigan for tomorrow, with heat indices expected to reach into the triple digits throughout the day. After Tuesday, temperatures and humidity will decrease, with highs in the low to mid-80s for the remainder of the week.

Slight Risk for Strong to Severe Storms Tomorrow

In addition to the heat and humidity, we are also tracking the potential for strong to severe storms tomorrow evening.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed a Slight, Level 2 of 5 Risk for severe weather across Mid-Michigan tomorrow. The primary concerns will be strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rainfall.
