They also voted 4 to 1 to keep the millage tentative rate of 7.945, but said it could be potentially lowered in future meetings. The commission said while the budget has many moving parts, they are all working towards one goal.

“The goal is to be able to continue to provide quality services to the citizens, especially one that relates to our fire and rescue services will make related to law enforcement. When that relates to keeping our infrastructure up and maintained and keeping our roads and dirt roads graded and paved roads where they’re in good shape. So the goal is to be able to provide services to the citizens of Jackson County as efficiently and effectively as possible,” Chairman, District 2 Commissioner Paul Donofro said.

The commission agreed to hold an additional special meeting on the budget on August 27th before their regular meeting. A public hearing for the tentative budget is set for September 10th at 5:00 p.m.
