    HCSO charged a man with forging checks of an elderly woman

    HOLMES COUNTY, FL. ( WMBB ) – The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding the financial exploitation of a 94-year-old woman in Westville.

    Investigators said evidence showed that Matthew Nobles had written approximately $4,300 worth of checks from the victim’s account. Nobles also deposited them into his account.

    According to a news release, further investigation revealed that additional checks belonging to the victim had been forged and cashed at a local store.

    Nobles was confronted with the evidence during an interview, admitting to taking the money and forging the victim’s signature, officials wrote.

    Officials said warrants have been obtained for Nobles for exploitation of the elderly, grand theft, and uttering a forged instrument.

    Nobles initially agreed to turn himself in but has since refused.

    The HCSO is currently seeking information on his whereabouts. Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office.
