Bay County dive team returns talent and depth

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. ( WMBB ) — The Bay County dive team features a talented roster ranging from state qualifiers to brand-new competitors this season.

Arnold senior, Preston Tomasiewicz set a new Arnold High School and Bay County record in the third meet of the season with 272.50 points.

The other returners who made it to state last season are all seniors from Arnold. Brock Swartwood, Coleman Lewis, and Addison Clark are all state qualifiers.

“Arnold, on the boy’s side has never had this much depth and talent,” Bay County dive coach Dana Hagan said. “We’ve got three returning state qualifiers. To have those goals and that depth for them to pass that on to some of our newcomers who are working so hard is just a rare and unique training experience for everybody.”

There are five newcomers from Arnold, Bay, and Mosley.

Arnold senior, Cody Williams quickly excelled in his first season. In the third meet of the year, he placed second with a score of 257.35.

The hope is that the team will bring some new faces to state competition this year.

“All of our athletes that represented Arnold last year have a very good chance of representing Arnold again this season as seniors,” Hagan said. “That’s certainly our goal. We have newcomers that have their own set of new goals. We’re going to see how many athletes we can bring to state this year.”

The next meet is the Panama City Beach Invitational on Friday, October 4 at the Panama City Beach Aquatic Center.
