GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — ECU’s classes are back in session soon and students are starting to move back into campus.

Professors are also getting ready for a new school year and businesses are preparing for the increase in people around the city.

The University Book Exchange sells ECU apparel, textbooks and school supplies. “We’ve had, you know, you see the traffic starting to get a lot more hectic. Our parking lots are starting to fill up and, you know, we’re starting to see more than what we usually do during the summer,” Assistant Manager at University Book Exchange Alex Walters said. “You know, it’s been a very quiet summer. But, once those freshman and these other traveling students start to come back home or come out to their apartments or their dorms, we really start to see it pick up around here.”

He said stocking the shelves at the beginning of summer is slow. “But as soon as July hits, we start to prep for game days,” Walters said. “We want to have everybody there. We want to allow everyone to have their clothes to pick out for game days. We make sure to get our textbooks in that all the professors need.”

Many students are also excited to continue or start their collegiate experience. “I chose to come to ECU because I know that I want to come like somewhere more down South, but it wasn’t too far from home,” Incoming freshman Kaylei Starsinic said. “And then they also kind of felt like everything I wanted. So like the business program was really good and they had, like, sports in the college town, that kind of feel.”

After moving into her dorm and taking a walk downtown, Starsinic said she’s more excited. “I’m pretty excited because I was excited about decorating my dorm and all that. And I think I’m kind of getting over the nervousness. I’m just pretty excited,” she said.
