BEAUFORT, N.C. (WNCT) — A Morehead City pled guilty in Carteret County Superior Court Friday to trafficking fentanyl.

Patrick Earl Arnold, 41, was sentenced to more than 18 years in prison up to more than 23 years in prison. Court documents showed that in the fall of 2023, detectives with the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office made undercover buys from Arnold.

Law enforcement then intercepted his vehicle after getting information he was bringing a large quantity of drugs into the county. A search of the vehicle found 800 grams of methamphetamine, 53 grams of fentanyl, 23.6 grams of marijuana, 2.1 grams of Diphenylprolinol, a 9 mm Glock pistol and $141.
