Man arrested on gun charges after brief foot chase with law enforcement

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WNCT) — Law enforcement officers with the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in Rocky Mount Saturday.

They said Quentin Kareem Al Jabar Gupton drove into the backyard of a home where people were working in their yard. The people told law enforcement Gupton had a gun in his hand. Officers arrived and caught Gupton after a brief chase.

Deputies searched the woods Gupton ran into and found the gun in a small creek. The serial numbers on the gun had been filed off.

Gupton was charged with:

• Careless and reckless driving
• Resisting a public officer
• Driving with a fictitious tag
• Possession of a firearm by a felon
• Possession of a firearm with an altered serial number
• Going armed to the terror of the public

Gupton was jailed in the Edgecombe County Detention Center without bond as he had other pending charges.
