JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — It’s the 15th-annual Hope for the Warriors Celebrity Invitational. It’s their golf tournament that teams service members and veterans with celebrities and other players.

The organization helps those currently serving, veterans and their families through different programs. The tournament raises money to support these programs. It’s raised more than $1.9 million since 2010. The shotgun start was Monday morning at River Landing.

Some notable players are former MLB players Johnny Bench and Doug Flynn, actor AJ Buckley, and Bravo’s Southern Charm star Craig Conover. Bench said that knowing the group is making an impact on the warriors is what draws him to the event every year, whether it’s through physical or mental help.

“We have to let them know that we care about them. There is a support out there and we want to know where they can find that,” Bench said. “And once we get there, then they get better every day. And that’s all we can ask, is that they improve every day, better for their family, better for all of us.”
