GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Pitt County Animal Services Advisory Board is in need of a veterinarian and an at-large applicant.

The advisory board serves to discuss current animal issues happening in the county from animal welfare to citizen protection. The board meets the fourth Wednesday of every odd month. They’re looking for a vet specifically for their input and perspective on animal service policy issues.

“Animal Services Advisory Board reviews Dangerous Dog appeals. It makes policy for shelter practices and recommends better best practices based on shelters, statistics and data. And so having a veterinarian’s perspective, particularly when we’re dealing with dangerous dogs or breed issues, is helpful to know and help explain sometimes to members of the public how different the veterinary acts can impact the community,” said Janis Gallagher, Pitt County Manager.

You can apply online at pittcountync.gov under boards and commissions.
