GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — An elementary school in Greenville has been recognized for raising student achievement.

Solution Tree recognized Ridgewood Elementary School as one of 600 schools in the United States and Canada to excel in raising the success of their students. Ridgewood is only one of four schools in North Carolina and the only one in Pitt County to be recognized.

“We are incredibly honored to receive this recognition as a Model Professional Learning Communities (PLC) at Work School,” Principal Dr. Kirby Maness said. “This achievement is a reflection of the heart, dedication, and teamwork of our amazing staff. This recognition reinforces that our mission to help every child succeed is not just words — it’s the foundation of everything we do. I could not be prouder to be a part of such a dedicated and passionate team.”

Schools are judge based on specific criteria that includes using Professional Learning Communities concepts for at least three years and evidence that student learning has improved over that three year period.
