Man arrested in Edgecombe County for felony robbery with dangerous weapon, other charges

PRINCEVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Detectives with the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office were called out to an address in regards to a male suffering a gun shot wound on August 13.

Upon arrival, detectives realized that the victim was robbed at gunpoint and was shot. Several leads were developed in the case that led to the identification of Dentavis Davon Staton. After thorough investigation, Detective Holloman obtained an arrest warrant for Staton.

On Tuesday, Detectives with the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office along with membrs of Rocky Mount Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team were able to find Staton in Rocky Mount. He was arrested without further incident and brought before the magistrate who issued no band for Staton.

He is now in custody at the Edgecombe County Detention Center awaiting trial for seven other robbery charges from various counties over the past two years as well.
