    One sent to hospital after being ejected from motorcycle

    WOOD COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One person has been sent to the hospital after striking a guardrail and being ejected from their motorcycle.

    According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, on July 29, 2024, at approximately 3:14 PM, the Wood County 911 Center received an emergency call regarding a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on the westbound entrance ramp to Route 50 from Juliana Street.

    Multiple agencies responded to the scene and found the driver, Randall Sharp, lying in a grassy area beyond the guardrail.

    Sharp was the only occupant of the motorcycle.

    The investigation determined that Sharp was traveling westbound on the entrance ramp when he exited the roadway to the left.

    His motorcycle struck the guardrail, causing Sharp to be ejected and land face down in the grass.

    The motorcycle continued for several hundred feet before stopping on the roadway.

    Sharp was initially transported to Camden Clark Medical Center and later flown to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital for further treatment.

    Deputy Alltop is leading the ongoing investigation.

    The response to the incident included the Blennerhassett Volunteer Fire Department, Parkersburg Police Department, St. Joseph Ambulance Service, and Camden Clark Ambulance Service.
