Police: 2 shot and injured in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people were shot and injured in Grand Rapids early Saturday, police say.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says that around 2 a.m., officers heard gunshots in the area of S Division Avenue and Rose Street SW, north of Burton Street.

When they went to investigate, they found a woman in her 20s in a parking lot with a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery.

Later, a male victim arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound. He was also taken into surgery.

Their conditions were not realeased later Saturday morning.

A News 8 crew saw a number of evidence markers in the street as police investigated the shooting.

Police said they shooter had not been arrested, but also that they did not think there was any danger to the community. Any witnesses and anyone who may have video of the shooting are asked to call GRPD at 616.456.3380 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
