Stockton man arrested after leading officers on chase in stolen car, police say
CERES, Calif. — A Stockton man out on community supervision was arrested early Friday morning after he allegedly led officers on a chase in a stolen vehicle. According to the Ceres Police Department, it happened around 5:20 a.m. Friday when an officer found a stolen vehicle with a person inside near E Hatch and Mitchell roads.
'We have lost a lot': Liberty Fire destroys 3 San Joaquin County homes
CLEMENTS, Calif. — San Joaquin County fire crews continue to work on increasing containment of the Liberty Fire Friday night. The fire burned 104 acres near Clements in San Joaquin County and is now 25% contained, according to Cal Fire. It started in the area of east Liberty and north Mackville roads around 2:30 p.m. Friday and prompted evacuations.

STOCKTON, California — The Stockton Police Department held a gun buyback event today, collecting a total of 167 firearms. The event took place in the parking lot on North Edison Street. Elk Grove Police Department to hold sobriety checkpoint July 19, 2024
The Elk Grove Police Department will hold a sobriety checkpoint this Friday, July 19, 2024. The location of the checkpoint will not be disclosed. The United States Supreme Court has specifically approved the use of limited sobriety checkpoints to combat impaired drivers (Michigan v. Sitz, 496 U.S. 444 (1990)). The California Supreme Court in People v. Banks, 6 Cal.4th 926 (1993) similarly upheld the legality of sobriety checkpoints.
