WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Detectives from Bergen County arrested a 20-year-old man from Sewaren in connection with the alleged repeated sexual assault of a child in Bergenfield.

Simko’s arrest on Wednesday, July 17, in Woodbridge, resulted from a two-month investigation by the Bergenfield Police Department and that county’s Special Victim’s Unit detectives, Musella said.

Bergenfield police alerted Bergen County authorities on May 19th about the repeated sexual assault of a child under age 16, initiating the joint investigation that led to Wednesday’s arrest.

Musella’s statement did not say if the victim was a boy or girl, and gave no details about the circumstances of the alleged crimes.

Simko, who is reportedly a 2022 Woodbridge High School graduate, is being held at the Bergen County Jail, awaiting a Superior Court arraignment.

The prosecutor credited his county's Chief of Detectives Matthew Finck and Bergenfield Police Chief Mustafa Rabboh for their inter-agency cooperation, and credited the Woodbridge Police Dept. for assisting in the arrest.

The prosecutor warned that criminal charges against Simko, or any other defendant, are only accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
