    4 adults, 1 child displaced after house fire in Woodbridge

    WOODBRIDGE, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Fire officials in Prince William County said five people are without a place to live after a house caught on fire in Woodbridge early Wednesday morning.

    According to the Prince William County Fire Department, crews responded to the 14000 block of Carolina Street for a house fire.

    Once at the scene, firefighters found heavy flames coming from the back of the house.

    As firefighters continued to investigate, they discovered the home’s deck was fully engulfed and flames were quickly spreading.

    Four adults and a child safely escaped after someone heard a loud noise outside.

    The Fire Marshal determined that the fire was caused by unattended cooking on appliances that were on the deck.

    The fire department said the home had extensive damage and was declared unsafe by the building official. The family was assisted by the American Red Cross.

    There were no reported injuries.
