Molalla collected 11 hits in its 7-6 victory against Madras on Thursday, April 11, at home. Camdyn Morey led the team with three hits while Nyxon Hopping added two hits and two RBIs.

Hopping earned the win for Molalla on the mound, surrendering two runs on one hit over three innings, striking out one and walking five. Hopping was stellar when it mattered most — after Molalla entered the final inning with a 7-4 advantage, the junior gave up a single and walked three batters to open the frame. Another walk and hit by a pitch brought in two more Madras' scores.

And then, as if the prior plays never happened, Hopping found his groove. With the bases loaded and just one out, he struck out Madras' Jared Penaloza, utilizing a full count. A batter and fielder's choice later and Molalla sent the White Buffaloes packing.

"He's gone deeper in the count and thrown more pitches than he has all year long," Molalla head coach Nicholas Matteen said. "That's one of those things when you don't have a lot of experience, you don't always quite have the legs and the leg drive to know how to adapt to that and physically know how to use your body the right way. And (Hopping), this is why he's my captain — he mentally got himself reset. We went out and talked and the guys did a great job of lifting him up."

Gavin Dunn started on the bump for Molalla, allowing one earned run on two hits over four innings, striking out seven and walking four.

Molalla (8-4, 2-0 TVC) will travel to Madras (7-6, 0-3 TVC) on Monday, April 15.

Molalla hung around for as long they could before ultimately losing to Madras 2-0. Two-runs in the bottom of the fifth secured the victory for Madras.

Georgia Edge led Molalla with two hits. Brenna Jackson was in the circle for Molalla, allowing two runs on six hits through six innings, striking out six. The matchup marked Molalla's seventh consecutive loss.

Madras (3-6, 1-2 TVC) will travel to Molalla (3-9, 0-3 TVC) on Monday, April 15.

    North Marion baseball

The No. 4 Huskies cruised to an easy victory on Thursday afternoon, steamrolling past Cascade 19-4 at home. They amassed 12 hits and ridiculous 16 RBIs in the outing.

North Marion was relentless throughout, scoring five runs on four hits in the second frame and then followed it with nine runs on five hits just an inning later. Carter Reilly, Cole Hammack, Landon Fowler and Will Stafford each collected two hits a piece. Fowler posted a team-high four RBIs while Jayden Ohlman drove in three runs.

Reilly, Hammack and Stafford also chipped in two RBIs each. Ohlman earned the win on the mound, allowing just two runs on one hit over three innings, striking out two.

North Marion (10-2, 3-0 OWC) looks to continue its winning ways against Sweet Home (2-10, 0-3 OWC) on the road on Monday, April 15.
