Pedestrian dies in early Tuesday crash in Woodburn

Oregon State Police reported that at about shortly after midnight Tuesday, June 18, troopers responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Hwy 211, near Woodburn.

The preliminary investigation indicated an eastbound Kia Soul operated by Keoki Kahee, 23, of Canby, struck a pedestrian, identified as Martin Cabanas Salgado, 56, from an unknown city.

Cabanas, who was reportedly walking on the fog line, died at the scene.

Kahee and a passenger, Taylor Hayes, 22, of Canby, were uninjured and cooperated with investigators.

The highway was impacted for about four hours during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

OSP was assisted by the Woodburn Police, Woodburn Fire, and ODOT.
