Goodbye to Retiring Faculty Members
Mamaroneck is often praised for its athletics, school spirit and teachers. Amongst these three aspects of the MHS community, there exists one man: Coach Michael Chiapparelli. Chiapparelli, affectionately known as Chap, has led Mamaroneck to four state championships across boys’ hockey and baseball, coached modified girls’ hockey, and has served as a Physical Education teacher in the district for 45 years.

Beyond Boys: Girls’ Flag Football Comes to MHS
Over the past few years, Girl’s Flag Football has become increasingly popular throughout New York, with approximately 48 high schools welcoming the sport into their athletic programs in 2022. The introduction of Flag Football in nearby schools has persuaded the Mamaroneck High School athletic program to attempt to launch varsity flag football in the Spring 2025 season. It is anticipated that an official decision by the MHS Athletic Department will be made by next year. Until then, the team will operate as a club sport. This format allows the team to meet and begin honing their skills without the pressure of competition.

Manchester Baseball Field: To Renovate or Not to Renovate
The Mamaroneck High School (MHS) varsity baseball team, a consistent powerhouse in Section 1, is a force to be reckoned with. Under the guidance of Coach Michael Chiaparelli, Coach Donald Novak, Coach Ryan Preusse, and Coach Joe Glaser, the team has consistently produced skilled and tightly-knit rosters. The leadership and high-level coaching have propelled various Tigers teams to contend for section titles and regional championships, showcasing the success of the baseball program at Mamaroneck.
All Colleges Should be Required to Accept Applications Through the Common App
College applications are incredibly stressful for seniors. On top of the grades and extracurriculars students struggle to maintain, they also have to obtain recommendation letters, craft essays, and write a multitude of supplements.
