(FOX40.COM) — The city of Woodland announced this year’s Fourth of July fireworks show will not happen due to staffing limitations.

City officials announced that the fireworks show is canceled after a contractor who helps put on the show experienced “serious staff injuries” while working at a fireworks event on Wednesday.

“We are disappointed that the show is canceled and we are sending positive thoughts to the injured crew,” the Woodland Fire Department said in a Facebook post. “We wish them a quick recovery and everyone a happy 4th.”

The city said it will work with its partners to reschedule the fireworks show at a later date. Woodland’s fireworks show was supposed to happen at Woodland High School.
