Coroner seeks public's help identifying remains of female found in the Columbia River in 2022 

The Cowlitz County Coroner’s Office has released images of tattoos found on the human remains of a female in the Columbia River in 2022 in hopes the public can help identify her.

The plea comes after the remains were found in the Columbia River just outside of Woodland on March 30, 2022.

The remains are that of a female, with the age and race unknown, according to the coroner’s office.

The coroner’s office has released images of two tattoo designs and descriptions of others. They include:

• A large tattoo with “S” in a shield with two birds holding a banner with the word inside on her lower middle back
• A lion head with flower
• Five people holding hands in a circle with initials “JCB”
• A rainbow colored shape, appearance of a flame with a treble cleft and music note with the word “when” above it
• A possible ornate style cross on the back of her neck

DNA samples have been submitted for analysis.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Cowlitz County Coroner’s Office at 360-577-3079.

“We would like to identify her and reunite her with her family,” Coroner Dana M. Tucker stated in the release.
