Yellville Barber shop floods with 3 feet of water
Record breaking rainfall overnight into Wednesday morning has cause major flooding around the area with the City of Yellville seeing many flooded businesses, roads and residences.The barber shop in downtown Yelville right near the town branch has been a local gathering spot in the community since 1935 and current owner Shawn Beaver says they saw 3 feet of water in the shop Wednesday morning. Beaver says he realized pretty early he had a major problem and that flooding like this hasn’t happened since the Harrison floods of 1961.
Council OKs park construction contract
The Pine Bluff City Council has approved a resolution authorizing a contract with Wagner General Contractors Inc. for the construction of phase one of a wellness park in the Delta Rhythm and Bayous Cultural District. The decision was made on Monday after a discussion primarily surrounding the bidding process and the inclusion of a "deductive alternate" clause.

Police chief catches burglar in Cammack Village for second time
CAMMACK VILLAGE, Ark. — Early morning on July 17, Chief Powell and his K9 Havoc caught a man going through two unlocked vehicles on Brentwood Road in Cammack Village. The suspect was identified as 43-year-old Ramon Maquel Taylor of Little Rock. Chief Powell previously arrested Taylor in November 2023 for auto burglary of two vehicles on Kenwood Road.

The system that brings relief from the heat also brought devastating rain to the Lakes Region. Showers and thunderstorms began moving through the region early Wednesday morning and by the time the skies cleared in the afternoon, general areas of seven to eight inches of rain had fallen with even higher amounts in parts of Arkansas.
