Trooper Safely Talks Man Off Putnam Bridge
Putnam, CT – A State Trooper safely talked a man down from the side of an overpass bridge Sunday morning. According to the Connecticut State Police, at approximately 9:03 AM on Sunday, July 21st, 2024, Troop D Troopers were dispatched to the Kennedy Dr/Park Rd bridge over I-395 for a distraught man hanging over the southbound side of the bridge.
Oxford Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Drug Distribution
BOSTON – A local man was sentenced in federal court in Boston on Thursday, after pleading guilty to drug charges. According to federal prosecutors, Chaasad Cyprien, 24, of Oxford, received a sentence of two years in prison and three years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine and to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine, in April.

VOLUNTOWN, Conn. — A head-on crash occurred Saturday morning in Voluntown, according to a release from Connecticut State Police. A 2013 Nissan Rouge driven by a 45-year-old man from South Hadley, Mass. was traveling east on Route 138 with a 35-year-old female passenger from Chicopee, Mass, according to the crash report.
Webster man charged with assault on a child
WEBSTER — A local man has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of indecent assault and battery on a child following a comprehensive investigation by Webster Police and several partnering agencies. John Nichols, 68, was taken into custody after an arrest warrant was issued by Dudley District Court.
