City of Woodstock's Hub Transformation Project was named a 2024 Project of Excellence by the American Society of Civil Engineers, the city announced.

Assistant to the City Manager Jamie Palmer, Engineering Manager Janis Steinbrenner, Cherokee County Community Development Director Brantley Day, and Matt McDow with project partner Arcadis accepted the award at the ASCE Georgia Section Annual Awards Gala on June 21.

The Hub Transformation Project improved traffic operations in downtown Woodstock by converting Mill Street to a two-way street, converting the intersection of Mill Street and Towne Lake Parkway to a roundabout, and adding a left turn lane at the intersection of Towne Lake Parkway eastbound onto Main Street northbound.

With the new traffic pattern, many vehicles can now bypass the heavily congested Main Street at Towne Lake Parkway intersection, reducing delays and crashes.

The project received a loan and grant from the Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank administered by the State Road and Tollway Authority.
