Visit Woodstock GA is looking for an artist or artist team to create murals for the parking deck that’s under construction downtown.
The parking deck , part of the Woodstock City Center project, is planned to be six levels and have 635 spaces, with entrances on three separate levels.
According to the organization’s request for qualifications, Visit Woodstock GA is planning for four murals to be installed at elevator bays in the parking deck, at locations designated A3, A5, B1, and B2.
Each mural will be on a concrete wall painted a base color. The base color will be required to be worked into the mural’s final design.
Murals on A3 and A5 each have a budget of $6,000, and murals on B1 and B2 each have a budget of $7,000.
Interested artists are invited to submit a proposal including a one-page cover letter, qualifications with artist information and references, and up to 10 images of past work. Responses are to be submitted as a single PDF file via email to Madison Beaulieu at mbeaulieu@woodstockga.gov.
The deadline for proposals is 5 p.m. July 19.
According to Woodstock GA, eight artists or artist teams will be invited to develop concepts for consideration. If a concept is requested but not selected for installation, a stipend of $300 will be paid to the artist or artist team.
Concept finalists are scheduled to be notified July 26, and concepts will be due Aug. 30. Concepts will be presented to a selection committee, and finalists from that group are scheduled to be notified Sept. 20. A community engagement event is set for October, followed by mural installation starting in November and finishing in December.
Visit Woodstock GA is the official destination marketing organization for the city of Woodstock.
