Two weeks after Beryl barreled through the city, power outages proved to be just as dangerous with dozens of heat-related deaths and many more facing financial impacts. Smith announced his commitment to Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday. Smith (6-3, 310) committed to the Bulldogs over Georgia Tech, Miami, and South Carolina.
One dead, one arrested after Saturday shooting in Oakwood
A man is facing murder charges after a shooting that killed a man in Oakwood Saturday afternoon. A release from the Oakwood Police Department Sunday said officers were called to a home on Aster Place in the Prescott neighborhood off of McEver Road just before 4:45 p.m. Saturday to a report of a shooting. When they got to the scene, they found a vehicle that had crashed into the rear of a home on nearby Wild Berry Court.
