UAMS Achieves Fundraising Milestone with $40.8 Million Received in Fiscal Year 2024
Aug. 1, 2024 | LITTLE ROCK — The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) reported the second highest fundraising year, raising more than $40.8 million through gifts and philanthropic grants in the 2024 fiscal year. It is only the second time in UAMS’s history that fundraising has exceeded $40 million. In total, 4,711 donations were received in the fiscal year.

Apply for an Arkansas dove hunt Aug. 1-15
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will accept applications for one of seven permit-based dove-hunting locations Aug. 1-15. Every September, hunters get excited to start their hunting season with a blast. Dove fly through the state during annual migrations, presenting one of the most difficult wing-shooting targets available in The Natural State, prompting hunts and tailgating scenes across the state rivaling those found in Fayetteville during a home football game. The AGFC has some fields throughout the state that are managed to offer some hunting opportunities, but most AGFC-owned areas are forested and not set up for shooting doves, a bird found primarily in the open habitat of agricultural fields.
Survey: NWA residents continue to report high-quality life, cites housing issues
BENTONVILLE, Ark. — A new survey by the Walton Family Foundation reveals that Northwest Arkansas residents report high ratings in their "overall quality of life." "It's a beautiful area.," Franchesca Brownhanney, a student at the University of Arkansas said. "There's so much life here and energy and it's a very creative space to be at. I've seen a lot of small businesses come into Fayetteville, into Bentonville. A lot of sports and recreational places."
