The Wayne County Historical Society Summer Community Band will perform two concerts in July, one in Wooster and one in Kidron.

At 7 p.m. Thursday, July 11, the band will present a concert in downtown Wooster on North Market Street, weather permitting. Take lawn chairs. If there is inclement weather, the concert will be in St. Mary’s Church gymnasium.

A second concert is planned for 7 p.m. Monday, July 15, at Sonnenberg Village in Kidron. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be in the barn at the village campus.

The band will performs under the baton of Randy Claes for the 13th year, and has 65 members.

Music will include marches, show tunes, patriotic songs and others. The band is a reminder of the bands that many communities had a century or so ago. The Wooster Board of Trade Band used to have concerts in the bandstand in front of the former Annats store, now E & H Hardware.

The band is open to anybody who plays a band instrument (including percussion); age and and experience are not issues. The band members range in ages from 13 to 85.
