The Wayne County Health Department, in collaboration with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, will begin to host a monthly popup food pantry 11 a.m.-1 p.m. every second Tuesday of the month starting July 9.

The location will be in the parking lot of of the Health Department, 244 W. South St., Wooster. People can receive food if their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level ($30,120 a year for individuals and adding $10,760 per year for each additional family member). For example, a family of four whose annual household income is $62,400 or less would be eligible.

“Food insecurity is a major public health problem not just in our community but in the entire country. We are fortunate to have the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank serve our community and the opportunity to collaborate with them to provide basic needs for our residents for us is a no-brainer,” said Dr. Nick Cascarelli, Wayne County health commissioner.

The Wayne County Health Department is looking for volunteers to help with the popup pantries. They would need to be able to be there an hour before and a half hour after the food pantry in addition to the pantry hours. For more information or to volunteer, visit www.wayne-health.org or call at 330-264-9590, Ext. 207.
