    Holmes deputies find and secure 18-month-old child and parents who fled Wayne County

    Holmes County deputies on Monday assisted the Wayne County Sheriff's Office locate and secure a Wooster couple and their 18-month old child who had fled the area.

    According to a report from Holmes County Sheriff Timothy Zimmerly, deputies were called around 6:21 p.m. Monday to assist in locating a child who was not turned over to Wayne County Children Services pursuant to a court order over concerns the family was homeless and living out of a vehicle.

    The parents reportedly fled to Holmes County, possibly in the Killbuck area.

    Deputies responded to the area and located the parents’ vehicle at the intersection of North Main Street and County Road 622 in Killbuck.

    Deputies detained the parents. The child was located in a car seat inside the vehicle, and was unharmed.

    Arrangements were made with Wayne County Children’ Services to relay the child to its custody.

    The parents were released from the scene at the request of Wayne County authorities pending further investigation.

    Deputies were assisted at the scene by Holmes County Children Services to aid in the transfer of the child to Wayne County.
