    MOT Senior softball in semis with chance to advance to championship

    MOT Senior softball is set to play for a chance to advance to the Senior League Softball semifinal for a chance to advance to the championship. MOT is the Delaware representative in the Senior Softball Eastern Regional in Worcester, Massachusetts.

    They are set to face Connecticut today at 5:30pm. Connecticut is represented by the Bristol Girls Little League is 4-0 in bracket play while MOT is 3-1. Today’s game is a win or go home for the Delaware team since they suffered a loss earlier to New Jersey.

    MOT started off the tournament with a 6-1 win over Pennsylvania. On the mound Myranda Talmadge was dominant, striking out 14 batters allowing just 6 hits and 1 run over 7 innings. Ally Taylor, Kamryn Tuffy, and Charlotte Whitman each had two hits for MOT.

    In game two they faced Maryland and were again victorious with a 6-2 victory. Talmagde again got the win on the mound for Delaware allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, while striking out 9 batters. Gracie Riccio, Mackenzie Landry, and Bridget Archer each had two hits, while Landry scored 3 runs and Riccio had 3 runs batted in.

    In game three Delaware suffered their first loss to New Jersey by a 15-5 score. It was a tough loss for MOT giving up 15 runs on 10 hits. Landry led the way offensively with 2 hits, while Riccio added 2 runs batted in.

    In game four they rebounded with a big 14-1 win over Rhode Island. The game only lasted 5 innings due to a mercy rule, but Talmadge was dominant again going 4 innings while allowing 1 run on 1 hit. Landry, Taylor, Archer, Talmadge, Tuffy, Madison Washburn all had two hits a piece.

    Tonight’s game is again a win or go home for MOT all-stars as they face the favorite Connecticut. If they win they will advance to the championship which is set to be Wednesday 7/24 at 1pm.

    In the other semifinal the Host team Massachusetts District 4 plays New Jersey. The winner of that game will advance to play the winner of Delaware MOT and Connecticut for the eastern regional championship for the chance to advance to Senior League World Series which is set to play at Lower Sussex LIttle League in Frankford, Delaware.

    With two more victories MOT has a chance to play in front of a home crowd with a chance to win the Senior League World Series.
