    Wednesday's local roundup, results: WooSox rally late for split on road

    Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 8, WooSox 1; WooSox 7, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 4: Bobby Dalbec clouted a three-run homer in the four-run seventh inning of the nightcap for visiting Worcester, which rallied to gain a doubleheader split with the RailRiders.

    Tyler Heineman (2 for 3) drove in Worcester's first three runs in the second game, including a tying home run in the sixth inning. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre scratched home a run in the bottom half to go back ahead, before the WooSox rallied in the seventh.

    In the first game, Chase Meidroth doubled in Daniel Lugo, who also had doubled, in the fifth inning, but those were Worcester's only hits.

    Futures Collegiate League

    Brockton at Bravehearts: Wednesday night's game at Fitton Field was postponed because of field conditions. The team had announced a weather delay from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15, before the organization announced the postponement just before the rescheduled game time.

    The team announced that fans with tickets for Wednesday night's game can use them at any other Bravehearts home game this season.

    Rhode Island 6, Burkett 5: The District 4 champions fell to 2-1 in the double-elimination format, losing to Cranston Western in Bristol, Connecticut. Jesse Burkett led, 5-2, before allowing four runs in the fifth inning.

    Burkett faces Milford, Connecticut, at noon Thursday, with the winner advancing to the regional title game against Cranston Western (3-0) at noon Friday.

    Friday's winner moves on to the Major League Softball World Series, which begins Aug. 4 in Greenville, North Carolina.
