Lehigh Valley Health Network on Monday celebrated the opening of a new 10,000-square-foot childcare center at the Westgate Mall in Bethlehem. The center, located in the mall neighboring the LVHN-Muhlenberg campus off Schoenersville Road, was built to “fill a critical gap in access to quality childcare services for LVHN colleagues and community members,” the health network said in a news release ahead of a ribbon cutting scheduled for Monday morning.

The West Rockhill Board of Supervisors Wednesday evening approved a maximum $3 million debt referendum to renovate the Holiday House pool. The move follows the completion of a marketing study, which concluded that the 55-year-old pool, a joint venture of West Rockhill and Sellersville Borough, is approaching the end of its life span. The study projected renovation costs at $1 to $3 million.

A fired Philadelphia police officer who pleaded guilty to murder in the shooting of a fleeing 12-year-old boy was sentenced Monday to at least eight years in prison.
