Demolition begins on parts of East Bank Middle School’s Calvert Field

KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — Demolition has begun on parts of East Bank Middle School’s Calvert Field, which Kanawha County Schools said were all impacted by structural issues.

Originally, East Bank Middle School home football games would have to be played on Riverside High School’s field. The field was closed after a recommendation from engineers, according to Kanawha County Schools.

They said the bleachers, press box and locker rooms at Calvert Field were all impacted by structural issues, and that the field could be used for practice, but not for games.

This has since been changed, and temporary bleachers and portables to be used for locker rooms will be brought to the field in the next few weeks so the games can be played there, according to Briana Warner, Communications Director for Kanawha County Schools.
