Woman arrested for animal cruelty in Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — A woman wanted by local law enforcement agencies for charges of animal cruelty was recently located and arrested in Putnam County early Saturday morning.

Lillian Simpson, 26, was arrested on a warrant that was issued in May , according to the WV Regional Jail & Correctional Facility Authority.

She is accused of holding dogs in her home under what authorities called “deplorable” conditions. One dog was reportedly found deceased on the bathroom floor of her home while seven others were described as malnourished.

Simpson is being held at Western Regional Jail on a $10,000 surety/cash bond.
