Johnson County getting new entertainment complex

JOHNSON COUNTY, KY (WOWK) — The Johnson County School District announced on Monday that Paintsville, Kentucky, will be the site of a new 62,500-square-foot entertainment complex.

Located near the new Johnson Central High School campus next to the Walmart, the family-friendly KP FunPlex will feature 24 bowling lanes, a two-level go-kart track, laser tag, arcade games, 4D and VR gaming experiences, axe throwing, multiple party rooms and a restaurant.

Superintendent Thom Cochran said, “We are thrilled about adding KP FunPlex to our community. This facility will offer a safe, fun environment for our students to relax and socialize, especially evenings and weekends. It’s an incredible opportunity to provide our kids with positive, engaging activities outside school hours. This will also secure preferred access to the 24 bowling lanes for our bowling teams. This will greatly reduce our need to travel to other facilities and provide us the opportunity to host tournaments right here in our community.”

The project is a collaboration between the Johnson County School District, Johnson County Judge Executive Mark McKenzie, the Johnson County Fiscal Court and a local developer.
