Victims identified in fatal Boone County fire

BOONE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — The two victims in Saturday morning’s fatal Boone County fire have been identified.

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office said David and Gloria Peters, 76, were found in the home on Toney’s Branch Road near Bloomingrose.

Neighbors said they were longtime residents of the home. They also said they tried to enter through the back door to help the couple but were unable to get the door down.

“We tried to get the back door open,” said neighbor Stephen Bolinger. “Couldn’t, smoke was bad. Flames is blazing out of the house and couldn’t get back door open.”

Neighbors said they were king people.
