Heritage Farms making plans for snow park

HUNTINGTON, WV (WOWK) – A cool new jewel for families to have fun, learn a new skill and “just chill” is coming to Huntington.

Heritage Farms will be the home to an indoor-outdoor snow park with tubing, snowboarding and skiing, ice skating, and lots of play spaces. The facility will also be able to produce real snow in up to 70-degree temperatures, all powered by solar panels and reusing the water of any melted snow.

The outdoor park features year-round skiing and tubing slopes, which will be maintained with snowmaking machines and “advanced synthetic technology.” Heritage Farm said that additional trails will be able to be opened from late October through early April each year.

A big goal for the park is to encourage people of all ages to pick up a new skill and have fun with fitness.

In August, Heritage Farm announced in a TikTok post that they are building the snow park in Wayne County, the first of its kind in the nation.

“Well, this is very exciting. You know, for a long time, we’ve had to – we haven’t been able to compete with other parts of the state with, you know, they have the whitewater rafting, the ski resorts. And this just adds another exciting component to our tourism mix,” said Tyson Compton, President of the Huntington Area CVB.

Officials with Heritage Farms say they hope to have things running by the beginning of next year.
