LOGAN COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – The new Chief Logan State Park Connector Trail is now open for recreation! The opening is just in time for the beautiful fall foliage, which is coming in a little earlier this year due to the drought.

West Virginia Governor Jim Justice hosted a ribbon cutting for the new trail this afternoon. The Connector Trail links Chief Logan State Park with the Bearwallow Trail in the Hatfield-McCoy Trail system.

“It’ll allow guests of the Hatfield-McCoy Trail system to actually stay at Chief Logan State Park, ride their ATVs and UTVs,” said Jeffrey Lusk, executive director of the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System. “It’s going to help our Hatfield-McCoy trail riders have another place to stay and have these beautiful vistas surrounding the park, and do it all from their ATV or UTV or off-road motorcycle.”

The project cost $100,000 to complete.

The ribbon cutting on the new connector trail comes just a week after the Hatfield-McCoy Trails opened a first-of-its-kind dirt bike course near Tornado, marking the first Hatfield-McCoy Trails in Kanawha County.
