NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — North Providence Superintendent Joseph Goho has been named the 2025 Rhode Island Superintendent of the Year.

The announcement was made at Tuesday’s RI School Superintendents’ Association (RISSA) meeting.

RISSA said in a press release the award acknowledges the recipient’s service to the organization, as well as “outstanding achievement in school district leadership, dedication to the education of all children, [and] commitment to the community.”

Goho became the district’s superintendent in 2019, according to RISSA. He previously served as the principal of North Providence High School for 20 years and as assistant principal before that.

Goho is also currently the chair of the Lincoln School Committee .

RISSA said Goho will be recognized for his achievement in March 2025 at the National Conference of Education in New Orleans, Louisiana.
