NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) — A section of Newport is under construction as crews work to resurface the roads and sidewalks.

The city said the Department of Public Services and its contractor Hartford Paving Corporation got started on the project on Monday.

The work will be taking place along Everett Street from Broadway to Kay Street, on Park Street from Broadway to Gould Street, and the entire length of Kilburn Court.

Local traffic will still be able to pass, but the roads will sometimes be closed to through traffic. In a social media post , the city said that “access to homes and businesses will generally remain open.”

On-street parking will be restricted from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
