Human remains, bicycle discovered in Birmingham culvert

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Police are investigating after a decomposing body and a bicycle were discovered overnight in Birmingham.

The human remains were discovered in a drainage culvert at the bottom of a small ravine near the 1600 block of Matt Leonard Drive, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner’s office is expected to perform an autopsy on Tuesday to determine identify and cause of death.
