Child hit by car near East Memphis elementary school

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A child was hit by a car near Willow Oaks Elementary School in East Memphis Monday morning, according to the Memphis Police Department.

Officers responded to the accident at Willow and Cherry Road, and the child was treated at the scene for their injuries.

Police say the car responsible for the incident fled the scene. This is an ongoing investigation.
